Gideon Sundback " Zipper "

Google reminds us with the great ( Gideon Sundback ).
Today, 24 April is the birthday of the Swedish Gideon, who used to work as an electrical engineer.
He is know by his invention to the Zipper.
In 1913, Gideon got the idea from ( Whitcomb L. Judson's ) idea.  "clasp locker" was Whitcomb L. Judson's idea. Then Sundback revised the idea and actually made it but whith metal teeth istead of hook and eye design.
It was called the "zipper" because the boots could be fastened with one hand.
Then he thought about coil zippers, the first design was of interlocking brass coils.
So it wouldn't be good enough. The new design hit the market at 1960s dueto discovery of more strong and flexible synthetics.
